Just Restored
This experimental oscillating engine was designed and built in 1939
by A.E Thorneycroft
The famous British marine engineer, designed this revolutionary unit for the R.A.N.It was designed to establish that a twin oscillator with a central venting block and compression locking bracket would be self starting and capable of reversing.
He was proved to be correct and two full sized engines were then ordered for the Navy for harbour ships and pinnaces.
The model is fully functional.
