DESIGNED AND BUILT IN 1939
A.E. THORNYCROFT THE FAMOUS BRITISH MARINE ENGINEER, FOR THE R.A.N.DESIGNED THIS ENGINE TO ESTABLISH THAT A TWIN OSCILLATOR WITH A CENTRAL VENTING BLOCK AND COMPRESSION LOCKING BRACKET WOULD BE SELF STARTING AND CAPABLE OF REVERSING.
HE PROVED TO BE CORRECT AND TWO FULL-SIZE ENGINES WERE THEN ORDERED BY THE NAVY FOR HARBOUR AND SHIPS PINNACES.
THIS MODEL IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

Peake No.1 IS A LIMITED EDITION OF 20 ENGINES
THE MAIN ENGINE FRAME IS A CASTING AND IS MOUNTED ON A WOOD BASE. IT HAS A ROTARY VALVE BUILT INTO THE CRANKSHAFT. THE MAIN BEARING IS FITTED WITH A TINY GLASS OILER.
(The single acting cylinder is 11mm diameter and 12.7mm (1/2") stroke. The small end of the con rod is inside the piston, as is common in internal combustion engines but unusual in steam engines)
