RESTORATION OF A CHURCH SHIP MODEL CIRCA 1700

It never cease to be amazed that the treasures that unexpectedly walk through the museum door . This time it was a genuinely rare and historic church ship or votive model made in Britain around 1700.
These models were built for naval families to be placed or hung in their local chapel or church, the family then had a focal to pray to thus protecting the family member at sea
These votive models were to be found in churches through out Europe and are highly valued.
We have started a long  and careful restoration process for the original family.

RESTORATION OF THE VICTORIAN MODEL OF THE PINTA

This restoration job the Americas was in bad shape and mounted on a display base that originally had an Art Deco glass back plate with a tungsten tube bulb behind it of considerable age.was a real challenge for us. The Victorian model of 'Pinta' the caravel sailed by the Pilgrim Fathers to
The Art Deco cloudy blue back glass was missing and the ancient tube bulb was broken.
The model's home was on the Northern Beaches in a classic Art Deco period mansion and so an authentic restoration was essential .
We managed to find a low emission tubular globe and corresponding ceramic fittings and eventually the cloudy blue glass was sourced some 150 kilometers from our workshop!
However, all the the hard work was rewarded when the owner declared that he was delighted with the result.
